![]() ![]() If you require the ability to export your NDxHD intermediate codec MOV files using other compression format/file type combinations, then purchase and use almost any FFmpeg-based transcoder app. As already indicated by QTKirk, H.264/AAC MP4 files are now almost universally supported by all platforms, operating systems, and browsers in current use. If all you want to do is create MP4 file for general distribution, I'd recommend downloading the HandBrake (free) app. (This is based on Windows user comments in the QT forums and not on personal experience.) However, if you are using the "Limited Export" version of the AMC app, you can use an independent, third-party transcoder to perform your conversions. Since you indicated the client is using a Windows platform, the MP4 file container would likely provide the greatest compatibility if available using Avid Media Composer. H.264/AAC compressed data is the same (using the same encode settings) whether stored in MOV, MP4, or an M4V file container. So I had to use DNxHD to get it out of Avid.ĭo you think it might work if I converted to another file type, or would the codec still be wrong? Thank you, but as I said Avid would not let me export in H.264, every time it finished loading it would jump back to the start again and never let me see the file. However, since you refer to the recipient as being a "client," I'd consider it to be more your responsibility, as a "professional" providing a commercial service, to create a distribution copy of the video that is universally viewable on any system rather than forcing the "client" to modify his or her own system configuration for playback compatibility with your intermediate editing file format. Based on my results, there appear to be several options available here. I'm neither an Avid Media Composer nor a Windows user, but your original post was interesting enough to do some research on this subject.
